January President’s Message

Welcome to 2021, PR Professionals!

As we put 2020 in the rearview mirror, we look ahead to a new day filled with promise, hope, and good health. Now that the COVID-19 vaccine is a reality and distribution has already started, I can’t think of a better way to begin our year than with an update on the vaccine and the challenges of getting the word out to our community.

So I feel very lucky to have Dr. Kristin Mascotti, NCH Healthcare System Chief Medical Officer, join us for our first virtual lunch and learn of the year on Thursday, January 28 at noon to talk about “Healthcare Communication in time of unprecedented crises and misinformation,” discuss communication strategies during COVID-19, and update us on actions to combat the virus. Dr. Mascotti will get us up to date on the phased vaccine disbursement in Southwest Florida and getting communications of timing and availability to the public.

We are offering this program to you at no charge.  You can find more details and register here.

As I start my year as your 2021 president, I want to thank the many who have served before me. Their guidance and friendship have made PRSA more than just a business group but like a second family. These leaders are so accomplished and experienced, I feel like Wayne and Garth in thinking I’m not worthy! (Some of you may be too young to get that reference!) But I do promise that I, along with the entire PRSA team, will do our best to bring you programming that we hope is timely, relevant, and helpful to you in your careers. As communication leaders, our words, actions, and integrity matter. We will strive to set forth the best examples of clear and accurate messaging.

I’m looking forward to seeing all of you on Zoom on January 28. From all of us at Gulfcoast PRSA, we wish you and yours a very happy and healthy new year!
